ROAGNA Barbaresco "Paje" 2015

Wine Region: Piedmont - Italy

Grape: Nebbiolo

Tasting notes: The complex aroma of the wine reveals the ether-balsamic notes of eucalyptus, sandalwood, frankincense, juniper and rosemary, which are complemented by notes of cherry, raspberry jam, red-orange, flowers (violets, mallow) and the nuances of white pepper. The taste of wine is very beautiful, juicy, showing attractive harmony and complexity, notes of cherry, plum, eucalyptus, spices, flowers, leather, dried fruits and a long, mineral aftertaste.

About the winery:
One of the oldest estates in Barbaresco, Roagna is now run by fourth and fifth-generation winemakers who make soulful Barbarescos from grapes grown in the heart of the village’s top Crus. The vineyard occupies over half of their 20ha land, but the vines on them — all at least 50 years old — are challenged to draw unique nutrients and trace elements from the limestone-rich soil, thanks to their deep roots and the fact that they are neither fertilised nor irrigated. Fermentation occurs exclusively in large wooden casks with indigenous yeasts before being aged in a neutral oak barrel for approximately five years.
